Penn State University employees, students, and other affiliates who wish to use a tablet for multifactor authentication (MFA).

This article explains prerequisites for using a tablet for multifactor authentication.

Requirements

Microsoft Authenticator App:

  • Tablet with an operating system that supports the Microsoft Authenticator app*:
    • An iPad with version 14.0 or greater of iOS
    • An Android tablet with version 8.0 or greater of the Android operating system
  • Installation of the Microsoft Authenticator application
  • Internet connection via Wi-Fi or cellular data

* Microsoft Authenticator app is not available for installation on tablets with earlier versions of iOS or Android.  If you have one of these, and Microsoft Authenticator app is already installed on it, it should continue to work; however, Microsoft no longer provides support for any issues that may arise with these unsupported OS versions.
