Article Intended For
Penn State University employees, students, and other affiliates who have registered a passkey for multifactor authentication (MFA) using Windows Hello.
Introduction
This article provides step-by-step instructions on signing in with your Penn State Account using a passkey stored in Windows Hello.
NOTE: You must already have a passkey enrolled in Windows Hello on your computer. If you have not done so already, follow the instructions in the follow KB articles based on your device type:
- MFA: Enroll a Passkey in Windows Hello on a Personal Windows Computer
- MFA: Enroll in Windows Hello for Business on a Penn State-Managed Windows Computer
REMINDER: A passkey stored in Windows Hello is device-bound. This means you cannot use the passkey for your Penn State Account using Windows Hello on another computer. For example, if you log onto a computer in a lab or library, you cannot use your Windows Hello passkey. You will need to use another passkey you stored on your smartphone or FIDO2 security key.
