Research: Cores - Create an iLab Account for Internal PSU user

The following is a step-by-step guide on creating an iLab account using your PSU sign-in credentials. An iLab account can be used to request services from cores at PSU and other institutions.

*NOTE: If you have more than one PSU login, e.g. @psu.edu AND @pennstatehealth.psu.edu, be sure your keep track of which one you used.

1. Have the Lab (group) name you will be joining ready
   1. If you are a PI setting up a new Lab (group), or if you are unsure if the Lab (group) exists, please Email PSU Cores Support with your first and last name
2. In a browser, navigate to the following URL: https://psu.corefacilities.org. 

1. 1. Click the Login button in the upper right corner of the page.

2. Under the Penn State user (with Access ID) heading, Click here to continue.

3. You will be directed to the PSU sign in 
   1.  Sign in using your PSU id with dual factor authentication
   2. *NOTE: If you have more than one PSU login, e.g. @psu.edu AND @pennstatehealth.psu.edu, be sure your keep track of which one you used.

4. Complete your iLab Account Registration.

1. 1. Select your PI from the drop down list. If your PI is NOT in the drop down list, see step 1 
   2. Your First Name, Last Name, and Penn State Email address will automatically populate based on your login credentials
   3. Fill in your phone number (optional)
   4. Select the register button to register for your account.

5. Once your account has been created, you will receive the following email indicating that your account is pending approval.

If your account request is urgent, please select the Request Assistance button in the email.
If your account is taking longer than 48 hours to be approved, please select the Send Reminder to the Designated Approver button.

You may want to contact your PI directly to let them know that you have submitted your request for their approval. They will approve your account request within iLab and assign you a valid fund number to use.

6. When your account is approved, you will receive an email similar to the following. This email will include basic information to get you started within iLab.

7. You can now log into iLab at https://psu.corefacilities.org (https://psu.corefacilities.org).
