Issue

I am experieincing symptoms where there is sporadic access or perceived slowness to web resources when connected to the GlobalProtect VPN.

Environment

  • Windows 11
  • Windows 10
  • macOS
  • GlobalProtect VPN

Resolution

Please disable IPv6 to resolve these issues.

Windows 11:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Click on Network & internet.
  3. Click the "Advanced network settings" option.
  4. Under the "Related settings" section, click the "More network adapter options" setting.
  5. Right-click the network adapter and choose the Properties option.
  6. Uncheck the "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" option.
  7. Click the OK button to save changes and then restart your PC.

Windows 10:

  1. Go to “Settings” > “Network & Internet” > “Status.”
  2. Select “Change adapter options.”
  3. Right click on your active network adapter and select “Properties.”
  4. Uncheck the “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” checkbox to disable IPv6.
  5. Click on OK to save the changes and then restart your PC.

macOS:

  1. Go to “System preferences” > “Network.”
  2. Select your network and click “Advanced.”
  3. Click the “TCP/IP” tab.
  4. In the “Configure IPv6” drop-down menu, select “Link-local only.”
  5. Click OK and then restart your Mac.

Note: These changes may require Admin Rights that are provided by your local IT Support. If you are unable to make these changes to your university-owned device, please submit a ticket or respond to your current ticket, for further assistance.
