Article Intended For

All university faculty, staff, researchers with permission to use and/or access Penn State Research Information Systems.

Introduction

Accessing SIMSreports (https://sims.psu.edu/).  All SIMS applications use the Microsoft Single Sign-on Solution.

Article Body

The SIMSreports application uses Microsoft Single Sign-on Solution. To gain access, a user must have an established Penn State access account registered for Two-Factor authentication.  A user must also request access from their unit Research Administrator.

Principal Investigators can access their grants and contracts information via myResearch or by contacting their college research coordinator.  SIMSreports is available to Research Administrators.

If you have already authenticated with an alternative email (i.e. Penn State Health credentials) in your web browser and the browser does not give you the option to log in using PSU credentials, you must be logged into the main Penn State account to access SIMS.  Using an incognito window may be helpful.

When the Penn State Microsoft sign-in screen is displayed, you will:

      1. Instead of just your user ID, enter your user ID followed by "@psu.edu" (e.g., abc123@psu.edu).
Include "@psu.edu" after your user ID even if you don't have a PSU email address.
        Then click Next.
      2. Enter your password on a separate screen, and click Sign In.
      3. If you're enrolled in MFA, the MFA prompt will display against a blank background.
Sign in screens showing email and password input. Two-factor authentication method selection screen.
