How do I connect to a Liberal Arts computer with Remote Desktop?

Resolution

Prerequisites

Windows

  1. GlobalProtect must be running
  2. Search your computer for Remote Desktop
  3. In the Computer field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
  4. Click "show options" button in the bottom left corner of the Remote Desktop Connection window
  5. Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
  6. Click “Connect”

Mac

  1. GlobalProtect must be running
  2. Search your computer for Remote Desktop
    1. You may need to go to the Apple Store and download Microsoft Remote Desktop
  3. Click on the + symbol and Add PC
  4. In the PC name field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
  5. Click on the “User Account” drop-down field and select “Add user account”
  6. Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
  7. The password field is optional. This is your Penn State Access Account password
  8. A friendly name is optional as well but useful if you are connecting to multiple machines
  9. Click the “ Add” button
  10. Double click the computer you just created to open the connection
