Penn State faculty, staff, students, and affiliates who use the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN when learning or working remotely.

Introduction

An anti-virus application must be installed and operating according to specific requirements for computers to be permitted access to Penn State's internal resources while connected to the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN. This article details out those requirements. (These requirements do not apply to mobile devices.)

Anti-Virus Requirements

The following requirements apply to devices running Windows, macOS, or Linux operating systems. (They do not apply to mobile devices.)

  • Anti-virus application must be installed
  • Real-Time Protection (RTP) must be enabled (this may be referred to by some vendors as Auto-Protect, Real-Time Scanning, etc.)
  • Virus definition version must be less than 30 days old
