Penn State VoIP telephone and voicemail users who need to verify telephone/voicemail ownership or make a change to ownership.

Introduction

Where ownership is not correctly assigned, email notifications of new voicemail (Single Inbox) will not be delivered properly.

Step-by-Step Instructions

 


To change ownership of the telephone or voicemail service:

Penn State Telephony Services Request

Select: I want to change Voice/Voicemail Ownership, a Password, or Single Inbox Notifications.


To verify the accuracy of ownership before changing the telephone or voicemail service: 

Follow the numbered instructions below.


 

1. Connect to the Penn State VPN.

2. Visit my.voip.psu.edu

3. Click - Voicemail Settings

If you cannot advance beyond the screen above, you may need to use the VPN connection for security. Off-campus networks will not provide the secure connection you need.

 

4. Click - Messaging Assistant

If you cannot advance beyond the screen above, your User ID is NOT correctly assigned to voice mailbox, and notifications will not be delivered to you. Let us help you. Please submit a request to change your voicemail ownership.

5.  Check the accuracy of the Name and Phone number associated with your voicemail and telephone.

  • If the phone number you see is the phone number you are using, then you are the correct owner of this service! No further action is required.

  • If you see that your name is correct, but the phone number is not the phone number you are using, then your ownership assignment is not correct. Notifications will not be delivered to you. Let us help you. Please submit a request to change your voicemail ownership.
