PURPOSE

This policy defines the role of Enterprise Networking and Communication Services (ENCS) in the installation and maintenance of local area networks and the responsibilities of customers that choose to utilize this service.

SCOPE

This policy impacts all networks installed or maintained by ENCS. 

POLICY
GENERAL:

ENCS will design, purchase, installation, and maintenance a converged network and provide LAN ports to customers.

ENCS will install all infrastructure wiring and network components. ENCS will not install the cables from the wall plate to the customer's computer (office drop cables).

REQUIREMENTS:

Only customer end user devices may be connected to a ENCS maintained network.  The extension of a ENCS maintained network by the customer attaching switches, routers, or other devices to extend the network is a violation of the maintenance agreement.

ENFORCEMENT

All changes to networks covered by ENCS Maintenance must be designed and implemented/installed by ENCS.

DEFINITIONS

A LAN is a local area network.
