Article Intended For

All university faculty, staff, researchers with permission to use and/or access Penn State Research Information Systems.

Introduction

The Disclosures Tab summarizes an investigator's answers to the Intellectual Property questions from the Investigators tab.

Article Body

The Disclosures Tab summarizes an investigator's answers from the Investigators tab.

Intellectual Property question

If an IAF has an industry sponsor and the IAF is neither a unrestricted grant nor gift (as indicated on the waiver's tab), the investigator must answer Intellectual Property (IP) questions on the investigator's tab at the time of their approval.  These answer's are summarized and displayed on the Disclosures tab of the IAF.

When the Background IP question has not been answered by an investigator yet, "Investigators Tab Not Complete" will appear under Disclosures.

If the Background IP question has been answered as 'NO', then Nothing is listed for Background IP.

If the Background IP question has been answered as "YES" it will be listed first, followed by the "Foreground IP" information.

The Foreground IP will display the following depending on how the Investigator answers the foreground IP questions on the investigators tab

  • "Non-exclusive license for internal use"
  • "Up front commercial license"

Research Security Training

Effective 10/1/2025, if an IAF has a federal sponsor or prime sponsor, all named personnel who provide approvals in the IAF are required to have take the Learning Resource Network (LRN) Research Security training (initial or annual refresher) within the previous 12 months. Summarized training status for all personnel is displayed on the Disclosures and Summary Tabs of the IAF.

When the an Investigator has yet to go into their tab to answer their questions, "No record" will appear under Research Security Training.

A passing training validation will have the course completion date, a course completed outside of the previous 12 months will display "Expired" and someone who has not completed training will display "No record".
