Anyone on Windows who needs to use Remote Desktop to connect to resources.

 

Introduction / Issue:  

Most Outreach and Online Education Staff function with standard computer options provided by Outreach and Online Education Information Technology.  In some circumstances, standard computer options do not provide the computing power or the variety of operating system options to fulfill their job responsibilities effectively.  The Virtual Workstations service provides computing capabilities for World Campus and Outreach staff to perform their responsibilities effectively when standard workstations cannot meet their needs.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

OOE – Service Desk

  1. Go to https://rds.worldcampus.psu.edu and login with your PSU credentials. UserID should be in the format xyz123@ad.psu.edu.

  2. After login, you will see any Remote Desktop Collection or RemoteApp that you have permissions to access.

  3. Click on the resource you would like to access to download the connection profile. This file will be downloaded based upon your individual browser settings and can then be saved in a location of your choosing.
  4. Right click on the connection profile that you downloaded and select Edit.  The following screen will be displayed and offers various features that can be configured.

  5. The most common change most users will want to make is on the Display tab, Use all my monitors for the remote session feature. This is enabled by default when the connection profile is downloaded.

    After making this or any other changes within the connection properties, be sure to click the Save button on the General tab. These connection settings will persist for each subsequent session launched from this RDP connection file. 

Click on "Save"
