The Summary tab is a compilation of all the data entered from each individual tab. This article displays and goes over what is contained within the Summary tab.

IAF Data Entry - Summary

The Summary tab is a compilation of all the data entered from each individual tab.The tabs below are displayed in sections on form.  The data on the Summary form cannot be changed.  It must be changed in each individual tab and may need to be recalled to change the data.  This summary can also be printed to a pdf.  Unanswered questions that are required for submission appear in special formatting to aid in highlighting incomplete areas of the form.

Questions with a  Not Answered must be completed before the IAF can be submitted.

As of 8/21/2023, IAFs where the sponsor or prime sponsor is National Science Foundation hierarchy, the Basic Information section will display the NSF Defined Off-Campus/Off-Site Research question and answer.  It will display as "Yes" or "No".  The question is answered by the primary PI on the IAF Investigators Tab.

If an account is created in SIMBA, related account creation fields will display in place of the AURA creation fields as follows:

Effective 9/15/2021, if an IAF has an industry sponsor, investigator's must answer Intellectual Property (IP) questions on the investigator's tab at the time of their approval.  When the Background IP is 'NO', there will not be anything listed for Background IP.  When Background IP is 'YES' on the investigator's tab, it will be listed first, followed by the Foreground IP information.  The Foreground IP will display as either "Non-exclusive license for internal use" or "Up front commercial license" depending on how the investigator answered the IP questions. Examples are listed below.

Effective 10/1/2025, if an IAF has a federal sponsor or prime sponsor, named personnel providing approvals must have a verified Research Security Training completed in the Learning Resource Network (LRN) within the previous 12 months.
Training status for all named personnel can be found on the Summary Tab in the "Disclosures" section.  A passing training validation will have the course completion date, a course completed outside of the previous 12 months will display "Expired" and someone who has not completed training will display "No record".  Examples below:

NOTE: Until a person goes into the IAF for the first time and clicks on the Investigator Tab to check against their training records, the status will say No record.

Effective 09/15/2021 - When a primary PI approval fails due to fabricated equipment sync issue, the IAF Summary notes section will include an indicator note.  When the sync issue is resolved and the primary PI has approved the IAF, the PI approval failure note will be removed from the Summary tab notes section.
