Introduction
Users can request any of the following types of course spaces in Canvas: a Sandbox, Master Courses, and Manually Enrolled Courses.
- Sandbox: A practice course space where you can familiarize yourself with the features of Canvas.
NOTE: You must be either a teacher or admin to request a Sandbox. - Master Course: A course development area or prep space for a course that will be taught in the future. You can design and develop your course using a Master Course space and then copy it into the official course space from LionPATH when needed.
- Manually Enrolled Course: A non-credit-bearing course that has student enrollment but is not connected to LionPATH.
Step-by-Step Instructions
To request one of these Penn State-specific features, use the buttons on the right side of your Canvas Dashboard to begin your request. Click the button corresponding to the type of course space you want to create and then refer to the Links section below for specific instructions.
NOTE: If you do not see the buttons for these features on your Canvas Dashboard, it may be a result of High Contrast Styles being enabled in your personal settings. Refer to the Turn High Contrast Mode off article to resolve this.
