Article Intended For
ORIS managed system users
Introduction
ORIS managed systems (SIMS, PRAMS, IRB, IACUC, Safety, and COINS) will be updated to use the Microsoft Azure Single Sign-on method (WebSSO) to sign users on to systems. This method will be familiar to users who have signed into PSU’s Office 365 service previously. This will replace the previous Web Access sign-on method as the primary sign-on method.
All Systems are scheduled to be updated between Monday, April 26th and Wednesday, May 5th.
Article Body
Penn State is asking all systems to use WebSSO in place of the current PSU WebAccess login method. WebSSO provides a better user experience, security, scalability, and reliability. Penn State has asked all systems to be transitioned by July 1, 2021.
With this change users will not see the WebAccess sign-on page first when logging into ORIS managed systems.
Instead, users will now see the new PSU Microsoft sign-on page first to login to this system. With WebSSO, users will sign on once and any application configured to use this sign-on page will automatically login the user without the need to enter in their password an additional time.
(Note: If a user is not currently logged into a PSU system, they may see the WebAccess screen as a second step in the login process, but once logged in, they will not see the WebAccess screen for future connections to other systems).
