This article provides a brief overview of the common error messages a user might encounter in the SIMBA GM module.

COMMON ERROR MESSAGES IN THE GM MODULE

 

GM Budget Upload – Common Error Messages

 

GMBAPI 026 The from_date and to_date in line item 000001 do not match any time slice.

Explanation - The Grant Validity Dates must be within the Budget Validity Dates. 

Resolution - Request the Grant be updated by Research Accounting. 

 

Precheck: GMBUDGETING 551 In GM area same dimensions are in different lines, that is forbidden.

Explanation - Multiple fiscal years listed under a single document OR Sponsored Class is listed more than once for the same cost object. 

Resolution - Correct the upload file to reflect one fiscal year OR combine the Sponsored Class listed more than once into one. 

Precheck: GMBAPI 028 Fund type of the document in line item 000001 does not match the fund. 

Explanation: Document type does not match the fund associated with the IO. 

Resolution: Update the Document Type to match whether you are uploading budget for a cost share or externally funded IO.

 

ABAP Runtime Error

 ABAP Runtime Error​

Explanation: Document has a formatting error. 

Resolution: Make sure you are using an up-to-date template and review all fields for correct formatting.

 

Precheck: GRANTMGMT 490 The GM line amount in line 000001 is not equal to the total amount in Fiscal Year distribution. 

Explanation - On the RETN Budget Upload, the upload has credit values in the amount field. 

Resolution - Correct the upload file to only include absolute numbers, in text format.

 

Precheck: GRANTMGMT 715 Splitting rule 0000 does not exist. 

Explanation - Sponsored Program is not attached to the Grant or Budget Tab is not completed. 

Resolution - Request the Grant be updated by Research Accounting.

 

Program 5000000XXXXX is not sponsored by any grant. 

Explanation - Sponsored Program is not attached to a Grant. 

Resolution - Request the Grant be updated by Research Accounting.

 

Common GM Error Messages

 

Value Type (xx) for Grant (XXXXXX) does not exist.

Explanation - This message occurs when the Grant is in a status that does not allow the transaction you are trying to complete. 

Resolution - Reach out to Research Accounting for explanation of why the status is set this way and if they can resolve.

 

Invalid combination of grantXXXXXX, program 5000000XXXXX, class SALARY-XXX. ​

Explanation - This error occurs when SIMBA cannot complete the derivation string. 

Resolution - Review the following data: 

IO is assigned to the correct Grant 

The Sponsored Program is populated on the Dimensions tab of the Grant 

The Sponsored Class is populated on the Dimensions tab of the Grant 

 

Precheck: GMBAPI 034 FM objects of FM line item 1 differ from sponsored program master data.

Explanation - There is an error in the derivation string. 

Resolution - Review the following data and make sure they match: 

Sponsored Program Budget Transfer Tab – Funds Center, Functional Area, and Funded Program 

Internal Order – Resp Cost Center and Functional Area
