*Note - when you are downloading Solidworks off campus you need to be connected to the Penn State VPN prior to the Solidworks installation.

 

Solidworks installation instructions

Solidworks is available for download on the College of Engineering website at https://www.engr.psu.edu/swdownload/

1. Unzip the Solidworks 2020 zip file you downloaded. WinZIP may not be able to unzip a file this large and you will need to use WinRar or another archiving tool to unzip.
2. Open the Product folder (SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP03) and run "SETUP.EXE" file.

*** Note ***

If you don't get the installation manager page below (seems like the installation is hung up), cancel the installation by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner.  You'll need to change the protection on the file. Browse to the downloaded installation files location <download location>\sldim\lang\english\html.

Right-click on frameset.html and select properties from the shortcut menu.

If an unblock button is present in the properties dialog, select it and Apply. You may need to do this to other HTML files in the folder as well. RE-LAUNCH the Solidworks Installation Manager process (setup.exe).

3. Select "Individual (on this computer)" then select "Next"

4. Select the packages you would like to install and enter "9710 0018 9065 7395 PBHJ QHFH" as the serial number for each. Click "Next".

At the summary screen you can accept SolidWorks default settings (recommended) or you can customize Solidworks Products, Background Downloader, Installation location and Toolbox options. You MUST also READ and ACCEPT the Solidworks License Agreement before the Install Now button activates.

5. Solidworks Installation Manager will ask for server name and port number.

Enter 25734@e5-st-sworks.ad.psu.edu and select "OK".

*** NOTE ***

If you get an error that the license server cannot be contacted, you can ignore the error and continue with the installation as it’s only verifying the address. It’s because you’re not successfully logged into the VPN. You will need to be logged into the VPN when you run the software.
