Creating Basic User Accounts in SIMSbudgets

Basic User Access allows non-administrative users the ability to create budgets.  Basic users are limited to only viewing budgets they created or budgets that have been shared with them. 

 

Who Should Have a Basic User Account?

Basic User Accounts are designed for faculty and research assistants who prepare sponsored research proposals and would not otherwise have access to SIMSbudgets.

 

Who Creates Basic User Accounts?

The research unit's (research administration office) Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) has the ability to add basic users.

 

Accessing the College Control Manager

To enable Basic User Access, the AOR must access the College Control Manager by clicking on the icon  from Budget Locator.

Once in the College Control Manager, the "Allow Basic User Access" option must be enabled.

Once access is enabled for the college, the AOR has the ability to add users individually, by department, or by college.  AOR's have the ability to see all SIMSbudgets users for their unit and filter basic users by unit (college/department).

     Users with Access in Selected Unit - List of all basic and department users for the selected unit.

     Select Unit to Filter - Filters users based on selected unit.

     Exclude Department Users - Removes department users from the list.
