How do I connect to a Liberal Arts computer with Remote Desktop/Splashtop?

- Liberal Arts
- Remote Desktop

Resolution
Prerequisites
- GlobalProtect must be installed and running when connecting to a Liberal Arts Windows Computer
- Splashtop Application or Splashtop via Web Browser
- If on campus with a laptop, you must be on PSU guest when using Remote Desktop
- If remote access has never been requested, please fill-out this form Liberal Arts Remote Desktop Access Request
From Windows to Windows
- GlobalProtect must be running and connected
- Click the Start Menu (Windows icon) in your task bar, search for Remote Desktop
- In the Computer field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
- Click "show options" button in the bottom left corner of the Remote Desktop Connection window
- Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
- Click “Connect”
From Mac to Windows
- GlobalProtect must be running and connected
- Open your Applications folder and locate Windows App
- You may need to go to the Apple Store and download Windows App
- Click on the + symbol and Add PC
- In the PC name field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
- Click on the “User Account” drop-down field and select “Add user account”
- Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
- The password field is optional. This is your Penn State Access Account password
- A friendly name is optional as well but useful if you are connecting to multiple machines
- Click the “ Add” button
- Double click the computer you just created to open the connection
From Mac/Windows to Mac
- Login to the Splashtop website with your PSU email and password by using the “Single Sign-On login” option.
- Navigate to “Computers” menu along the top of the page.
- Locate your computer in the list.
- Connect to it by clicking the screen icon along the right side or download and install the “Business App” via the top button on your personal PC.
NOTE: If you are using a Liberal Arts computer to remote into one of our computers, we can push the Business App out and install it remotely for you.
