ARTICLE INTENDED FOR:

Faculty and staff Starfish users

INTRODUCTION:

This document addresses how faculty and staff can request access to Starfish.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE: Access to Starfish requires completion of the FERPA Tutorial & Quiz course and the Starfish Orientation in Penn State's Learning Resource Network (LRN).

Requesting Access to Starfish

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to starfish.psu.edu.

  2. Click the Request Access link in the toolbar.

  3. Click the link to the Starfish Role Request system. The Welcome to the Starfish Role Request system screen is displayed.

  4. Click the Login button located on the Welcome to the Starfish Role Request System screen.

    NOTE:It may be necessary to log in via Web Access.

  5. Click the New Account Request button on the Welcome to the Starfish Role Request System page.

    NOTE: If you have not completed the Starfish Orientation, a link to the orientation module will be displayed.

Submit the Request

  1. Select the role(s) you are requesting.


    NOTE: Users whose job responsibilities do not match the currently configured roles should contact the Starfish Administrator for guidance.
  1. Select the Starfish Public-Facing Services and Kiosk Waiting Rooms that you need for this role, if applicable. If you do not have one, or don't know what this is, leave these fields blank.

  2. Check the Agreement checkbox.

  3. Click Submit.

  4. Select OK from the Submit New Account Request dialog box to submit the request to your manager.

Manager Options After Receiving Request

When your manager receives the request, they can perform one of the following actions:

Review the Request Status

When the status of your request is updated, you will be notified by email.

  1. Click the link in the email to view your submitted requests.

  2. Select Requests from the left navigation pane to view the request details.

  3. Select the Process ID to view the request details.
