Penn State faculty and staff who will install and configure the MyE911 location tracking software on a self-managed desktop, laptop, or tablet with a macOS operation system.

Device Requirements

  • You must have an active Penn State telephone number issued through the University’s VoIP telephone system.
  • Your telephone number is set up with softphone calling capability, (such as Jabber), you have the current softphone applications installed, and your PSU ID is set up to make and receive calls on your device.
  • Your machine must be running IOS 10.13 or higher and Java 11 or higher.

There are Four Steps to Complete the MyE911 Location Tracker Installation

  1. Download and install the application file.
  2. Register your device with MyE911.
  3. Set your locations in the MyE911 Web Portal.
  4. Validate your first location through the 933 Validation Center.

1. Download and Install the MyE911 Software

  1. Download the application from Software at Penn State.
  2. Click on the Penn State button to logon.
  3. Click the Download button.

  5. Click on the Software Installation File, then drag and drop it into your Applications folder.

  6.  Click Open.



  7.  Verify that the URL https://anywhere.e911cloud.com is populated in the "Host" field, then click Save.



    Note: If you do not receive the pop-up “Device Registration” window, launch MyE911 from applications.

 

2. Register Your Device

  1. The MyE911 application will open a Device Registration window. Enter your Penn State email, formatted as abc123@psu.edu.
  2. Click Send.



  3. Copy the Verification Code from the email  (This email may arrive in your Spam folder).
    Note: If you receive a pop-up message stating MyE911 wants access to control “System Events,” click OK.

  4. Open MyE911 from Programs and continue with the registration process.
    Note: If you do not receive the verification email, submit a ticket through the Penn State IT Help Desk.

  5. Enter the code in the Device Registration Window and click Verify.

    (You will receive a notification stating your device has been activated.)

    If you do not see a Device Registration window or you see this notification, please skip to the modified instructions to complete the installation.

3. Set Your Locations in the MyE911 Web Portal

You may add and store multiple locations for your device, e.g., home, campus, or hotel. However, only ONE will be considered your current location at any time. You will use the Manage Locations menu item in the portal to add, remove, and set locations as current.

 

  1. Right-click the MyE911 Icon in the System Tray in the system tray
    Note: Make sure your browser is active and not minimized.
  2. Select Open
  3. Click Manage Location in the portal webpage
  4. Click Add Location and Set as Current button

  5. Complete the required fields in the Add Location window
    Add more specific information in the Location Information field, such as an apartment number.

  6. Click Add and Set as Current Location.

 

Note: If you receive an error stating that the “address provided is not properly formatted” or you want to enter the name of a campus building, please skip to the section below, titled Alternate Address.

 

4. Validate Your First Location Using the 933 Validation Center

  1. Open the softphone application on your device, such as Jabber, and Dial 9-3-3.
  2. Listen for the 933 Validation Center audio to confirm your phone number and location.

    Note: If your phone number and location confirmed by the 933 Validation Center do not match your current location, submit a ticket through the Penn State IT Help Desk for assistance.

Alternate Addresses

Use an Alternate Address if you received an error message, “The address provided is not properly formatted,”  or if you want to use the name of a campus building as a location.

  1. Click the Alternate Address view located beneath the Address field.
  2. In the Add Location window, you can keep or change the Location Name.
  3. House Number is either your house or office number.
  4. Street Name is either the street name or a campus building name 
  5. Enter City, State, and Zip.

  6. Click the blue button “Add and Set as Current Location” to save the location.





Modified Installation Instructions

These instructions are for anyone who can not proceed with the installation as expected. You will continue directly through the MyE911 Portal.

  1. Open the MyE911 Portal: https://mye911.anywhere.e911cloud.com/.
  2. Enter your Penn State email and click Next.

  3. Follow the online instructions to Register Your Device and Set Your Current Location.
  4. Complete the installation by Validating Your Locations with the 933 Validation Center.
    Note: MyE911 will NOT prompt you to the validation step


MyE911 Management Options

You can perform the actions below by right-clicking the MyE911 application icon in your system tray.

  • Open: This opens the MyE911 portal where you can access these options from the Menu Selector on the left.
    • My Location: validate that MyE911 correctly detected your current location
    • Manage Locations: view and manage your saved locations
    • User Details: view & update your information
    • Help: review the current User Guide
  • Snooze: Snooze location input prompts for up to 24 hours.
  • Settings: Edit the setting input911.
  • About: MyE911 application Information.
  • Exit: Caution - If you exit MyE911, your location will no longer be sent to an emergency response center upon dialing 9-1-1.
