How do I connect to a Liberal Arts computer with Remote Desktop?

Resolution

Prerequisites

Windows

  1. GlobalProtect must be running
  2. Search your computer for Remote Desktop
    1. If you are using a personal Mac, you may need to go to the Apple Store and download Microsoft Remote Desktop
  3. For Windows users
    1. In the Computer field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
    2. Click "show options" button in the bottom left corner of the Remote Desktop Connection window
    3. Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
    4. Click “Connect”

Mac

  1. GlobalProtect must be running
  2. Search your computer for Remote Desktop
  3. Click on the + symbol and Add PC
  4. In the PC name field, type your computer name Example: L2ITLA-WT0000.ad.psu.edu
  5. Click on the “User Account” drop-down field and select “Add user account”
  6. Add your Penn State username into the username field Example: PSU\abc123
  7. The password field is optional. This is your Penn State password (WebAccess Password)
  8. A friendly name is optional as well but useful if you are connecting to multiple machines
  9. Click the “ Add” button
  10. Double click the computer you just created to open the connection
