Use this document to find resources to assist you with connecting to secured Penn State resources via the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN (Virtual Private Network) when learning or working remotely.

By downloading and installing the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN according to the directions that best match your devices, you will maintain access to the secured Penn State resources you’ve used before. See the informational material below to help you get this critical access tool running on your computer or mobile device.

 

What is the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN?

The GlobalProtect VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a private connection required to access secured Penn State resources, such as the VoIP Portal for managing your telephone settings, LIAS (Library Access), and sophisticated security Enclaves. If you are not sure whether you should use the VPN, please contact the Penn State IT Service Desk.

 
The GlobalProtect VPN provides an additional layer of security, but is not required and will not interfere, when accessing public-facing services such as www.psu.edu, Microsoft O365 email, SharePoint, One Drive, etc.
 

Instructions for Downloading and Installing the GlobalProtect Remote Access VPN

  • If you are using a computer that allows you to install and uninstall programs on your own, use the following instructions:
