[Student] How do I download SolidWorks on to my computer?

SolidWorks is available to ANY Penn State Student for educational purposes only.

*Note: If you are off campus or on a non-PSU network, you will need to connect to Penn State's Global Protect VPN first, prior to installing SolidWorks

Installation Instructions SOLIDWORKS 2023:

1. Open a browser and navigate to www.solidworks.com/sek

2. Enter your contact information and PSU email address.

3. Under Product Information:
      i. Select Yes under "I already have a Serial Number that starts with 9020"
          - (The serial number for 2023/24 is 9020005749845773JF29WTBB)
     ii. Select the version you want but the 2023 (SP2.1) version is the version being used.

4. Select "Request Download" and accept terms and conditions Click Download > SolidWorksSetup.exe will be downloaded

5. Extract the files from the downloaded zip file.

6. Browse to the extracted file Setup.exe. Right-click and select Run as administrator.

This launches the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager.

Note: SOLIDWORKS recommends that you restart your system before beginning a SOLIDWORKS installation. You will be prompted if a pending reboot is detected. This dialog box shows up even after a reboot at times. If it does, just click OK to continue the installation.

7. For an individual installation, keep Install on this computer selected, and click Next.

8. Select SOLIDWORKS and enter serial number 9710 0018 9065 7395 PBHJ QHFH. Once the serial number is entered, click Next.

9. The Installation Manager connects to SOLIDWORKS site to download files and displays a Summary window.

10. Select the Products you want to install. Use the Change link to unselect products.

Note: It is recommended to only install the components that are needed for your use case. Typically, class instruction only requires SOLIDWORKS. It is recommended not to install Electrical Options unless needed as it installs additional components on your system including a local SQL server instance.

Click Back to Summary.

11. Review selection. Select to accept the terms of the SOLIDWORKS License Agreement. Click Install Now.

Enter Port@server: 25734@e5-st-sworks.ad.psu.edu

Select OK.

12. Wait for installation to Finish. You will then receive a notification when the installation is complete. Click Finish.
